Dear Early Learning Center Community,
A big thank you to the families who were able to visit today during our Parent-Teacher Conferences. We can’t wait to see the rest of you tomorrow! During our conferences our PTA will be hosting a Book Fair. Please stop by and visit when you’re in the building! Just a reminder that there is no school on Monday, October 14th. Below you’ll find a few updates for the month of October.
Five years ago, we began implementing a child sexual abuse prevention program in our schools as the result of the passage of Public Act 097-1147, also known as Erin’s Law. This law expanded upon previous legislation and required child sexual abuse prevention education for child beginning in pre-kindergarten and continuing through all grade levels. Our students will be participating in lessons in their classrooms in October. Please contact us at 847-357-5777 with any specific questions.
District 54 Community Resource Center Calendar and Newsletter:
Our new October calendars and newsletters are available on our website. You can access them in English and Spanish here. We hope you’ll take advantage of some of the activities and suggestions!
With Halloween right around the corner, we’ve already had some questions in regards to our Halloween parade and costumes. The ELC’s Halloween celebration will take place on Thursday, October 31st. Students should come dressed in their costumes to school that day. Our student parade will begin in the building at 8:15 am for our morning session and 11:45 pm for our afternoon session. Weather permitting, we will parade outside of the building as well for parents. Parents are welcome to observe the parade from outside, and student dismissal is at our usual Thursday times.
Halloween is a fun and special time of year for many children. In order to ensure the safety and well-being of all of our children, please keep in mind the following considerations:
We appreciate your support in following these guidelines so Halloween is enjoyable for all.
Monday, October 14th – No School – Columbus Day
Thursday, October 24th – Picture Retake Day
Thursday, October 31st – Halloween Parade – weather permitting
We hope you all have a wonderful, extended weekend!
