Principal’s Message – February 3rd

Dear Early Learning Center Community,

We have had a busy week here at the ELC with lots of laughter, fun and learning! Ask your child about their trip to the D54 garage for our Touch a Truck in house field trip this week or last.  They loved interacting with the simple machines and transportation that our O & M staff use daily. This has been a great unit for our Sprouts!

The following 5Essentials Survey will help us to grow as a building as well as to serve our Sprouts and families.  The deadline is approaching quickly and we’d love to have your input!  Please follow the links below to share your thoughts.  We’d greatly appreciate it!

5Essentials Survey

Once again we are reaching out to our families and asking you to participate in the annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey to provide us with your perspective and help guide our school improvement efforts. The parent survey will be available online through Feb. 14, 2020, at https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois. We will also have a few computers out for parents to log on and use during conferences.  Please feel free to ask for help while you’re here!

PTA News

Supporting Our Sprouts has become the theme of the ELC PTA.  You can help!  Here’s how:

1)       Be a member!   Our goal this year was 200 members.  We are currently at 155.  If you have not joined, please know that being a member shows your support in making every child’s potential a reality.   See the Membership Enrollment form attached.

2)      Attend an event sponsored by the PTA.  The staff and the PTA have worked to create short informational presentations so we can work together to make every child’s potential a reality.  Our next meeting is March 10, 2020 at 6:30 p.m.  Please join us.

3)      Volunteer to help with an event at school.  If you are interested in any of these activities, please let us know what times you might be available.  Questions?  Contact Barb Quinn, bquinnpta@nullaol.com

Ø  The Spring Book Fair is just around the corner, February 13/14.  The Book Fair will be open on Thursday (2/13) from 7:45 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. and Friday (2/14) from 7:45 to 10:30 a.m.

Ø  During those hours, we will also be distributing the Super Sprout spiritwear previously ordered.

Ø  Spring Pictures follow closely on February 18/19.  Volunteers are needed both Tuesday (2/18) and Wednesday (2/19) from 7:45 a.m.  until 2:30 p.m.

4)      Future Leaders.  Every year, the ELC PTA creates a slate of officers who in turn recruit and appoint committee leaders.  The officers are elected to serve a 1 year term, with eligibility to serve a second term should the nominating committee slate them for re-election.  Want to know more?  We will be creating an explanation of the positions for you to review.  If there is something that you think aligns to your skill set, please let the leadership know.  The nominating committee will begin its work for the 2020-2021 term soon.

We look forward to working with all of you as we Support Our Sprouts
